My broken foot is really getting me down. Seven more weeks of not driving. I might be going nuts. The orthopedist really got up in my grill and told me I was doing too much and that my foot won’t heal unless I just stop and rest.
I’m not good at stopping.
I’m used to going 200 miles an hour with my hair on fire.
Isn’t that how everyone lives?
I have to just stop and pray
and try to be still
and listen to see if the Lord is trying to teach me something through this.
I heard Him yesterday.
He told me to cherish the quiet and still.
Take time to pray.
Memorize Isaiah 61:1.
Listen to my kids and not just say uh-huh.
Spoil my daughter a little
and take a 2:00 nap
together on my bed
-still wearing our jammies.
Be a little silly
even when it’s time to get serious.
But what He keeps reminding me of the most
is to give up control-
and cherish today.

Amen.
You are right on.
PS Love, love, love the photos!
Favorite post ever! You guys are adorable together. Self portraits with the kids are always my favorite!
Absolutely. What a gift that you got the message and actually HEARD it! Enjoy!
What a wonderful post, and pictures. Thanks for sharing.
I learned this lesson once as well, to slow down, give up control, enjoy the moment.
Good for you!!!
Hope your foot is all healed up soon! ;)
BEautiful and the pictures are amazing. So so sweet.
Great post...LOVE the thoughts, and the shots! :) So sweet.
Beautiful post and photos. Take it easy and heal that foot.
Blessings,
Amy
I hate that your foot is getting you down...I've been praying for ya! I told my Mom about you praying for her and she appreciates and says she feels all the prayers, because she is doing better by the day. You will too!! You and your daughter are just too cute for words!
Very good advice...even for those of us without a broken foot!
Knock it off and pay attention already! ;) lol Just remember if you don't take it easy, you're going to be down even longer and that will REALLY drive you nuts!
Praying your back to 'normal' soon. ;)
I'm sorry about your foot! But sometimes its nice to be made to slow down and have some quality cuddle time :)
I agree with RN Mama. I love your photos and am hoping you take doc's advice.
I'm sorry that your slow down message came from God is such a serious way. I twisted my ankle trick-or-treating with my boys on Halloween. Yes, it was humiliating, to say the least! Then the days that followed were more than I could handle... as I sat on the couch with my foot propped up. So here's my advice: reschedule all appointments, let your house be dirty, order out, take the help you're offered and enjoy just being still. God has very firmly asked you to slow down, I'm glad to see you doing it with a smile on your face!
God's blessings, Sarah :D
i absolutely love this!! your pictures are precious and i'm so thankful for the reminder to be still, give up control, and cherish every moment! take care!!
Love that post..........love seeing the pictures of you two together laughing and being silly. beach bunny reminds me so much of my stella .... get well
take time to relax
Beautiful post. The Lord has had to stop me in my tracks a few times too. Hard for a goer like you, I know.
I do hope your foot heals well and that you continue to reap huge rewards like you did today. Your sweetie is certianly balm for your ailing bones.
Take care,
Wanda (At Last...)
You are the best Mommy and besides being forced to have some downtime, you deserve it, so cherish every minute of it. Love the photos. I stayed in my jammies all day today too (shhhh, don't tell anyone). :-)
I love it! I love it! I love it!! This is the stuff life is made of!!
My foot is not broken, but I needed to hear this. So inspiring. God bless YOU!!!!!
So true!!
I bet your daughter was on cloud 9!!
The pictures are awesome!
sometimes we don't do that on ouir own, and so God has to do it for us -- i.e. broken limb. that'll get her to calm down a bit and take it slow !! I'm going to go read Isaiah 61.
oh 7 weeks of no driving..... yes try and enjoy the time might as well make the best of it and heal so you don't have to be banned from driving forever! I bet your kids are loving this!
I know how you feel. I was on bedrest with Ava for 7 months. I was going CRAZY! But now, I sure I wish I had just one day of bed rest! Enjoy the time of rest because trust me it will be over before you know it!
Hope your foot is feeling better! ;-)
Just precious! I am learning to do the same thing! Everyone is loving me a little bit more, including myself!
Many Blessings!
Simple and profound. Thanks for the reminder : )
Well how bout that? I just went through my own desert time with the Lord with a broken ankle. And God told me the same thing...to be still and know. Well, seeing as I couldn't get around much, I was still, but I think there's still a lot I don't 'know.'
Blessings and speedy healing for you!
What a wonderful snuggling pal to help you hear the voice of the Lord!
Love this!
Too bad it takes these catatrophic things (well I guess breaking your foot isn't catastraphic, but you know what I mean) to get us to stop. Take stock. Get real with God. With ourselves. With out families.
"all of my life. In every season. You are still God. I have a reason to sing. I have a reason to worship!"
-sorry, listening to my blog post music (Desert Song) as I type this. I live in the Desert and sometimes I need to be reminded that just because I live in a dry land, doesn't mean I have to be "dry."
I think I will repost this on my blog. I had an epiphany!
So precious! I need to get better at stopping too.
So sweet and true!! Thanks for sharing. Your posts are always soooo amazing to read!
Found your blog from MckMama's community.
Wonderful post. Sometimes God whispers, and we hear every word He says. Other times, He shouts and we don't listen. I'm glad you listened yesterday to what he was telling you- looks like you had a wonderful day with your little one!
Thanks for sharing your blog!
Hey girl! I am thinking about stopping my blog because I have gotten two foreign followers that appear to be from another country. There blogs are foreign and I am getting concerned. Why would they want to follow me? Has this ever happened to you? I don't want to do anything that puts my little family at risk esp Ava! What do you think?
I love blogging and I know it may be paranoid but I am worried and wanted to see if it happens to anyone else.
Thanks for your help!
Thanks for following, you made my day!
Love this...I have trouble stopping also...it is good to be still and know that He is God!
wow what a beautiful blog! your family is gorgeous! I hope your foot gets better soon :)
such a great reminder to slow down and cuddle. the silly picture is my favorite!

I found your blog through Freddae's award blog post. I am so blessed to visit you today. Following & look forward to getting to know you better. May the Lord richly bless your obedience. Blessed be His name!
Joyfully,

My friend and I were recently discussing about how involved with technology our daily lives have become. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further advances, the possibility of transferring our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I dream about almost every day.

What an important lesson to learn and hang onto with our fingernails. Look at what pure joy it brings you. Is there anything better than hanging with your kiddo in bed in your jammies and enjoying the silliness? I'm sorry about your foot... but not really if this is what you get to do.
Love you girl,
Amanda
What a wonderful post, and pictures.
